What is Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)?
Over the last 20 years, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) has become a popular way for consumers to buy local, seasonal food directly from a farmer. Here are the basics: a farmer offers a certain number of "shares" to the public. Typically the share consists of a box of produce, but other farm products may be included. Interested consumers purchase a share (aka a "membership" or a "subscription") and in return receive a crate of seasonal produce each week throughout the farming season.
What will our CSA consist of?
*26 weekly pick-ups from mid-May to November. Pick up locations include Hershey/Hummlestown, Lemoyne, Mechanicsburg, Camp Hill, Colonial Park, Midtown Harrisburg, Linglestown, Paxtang, Middletown, and our market.
*Several open farm days including pick-your-own opportunities and farm tour.
*10% discount on any purchases made in our market
*A newsletter with recipes, storage tips, and information about farm happenings and the produce you receive each week.
Share Description:
We offer one size share, which will include 6-8 items each week. Item 1 may be one cantelope, item 2 may be 5 apples, and so on. To see examples of past share contents, see the slideshow here on our website. When can I pick-up my share?
Off-site pick up time is from 3PM-8PM. Linglestown, Midtown Harrisburg, Camp Hill, Lemoyne, and Mechanicsburg sites will be on Tuesdays; Colonial Park, Hummelstown/Hershey, Paxtang, and Middletown sites will be on Thursdays. Pick up time at our market is from 1PM to 7PM. Those picking up at our market can choose either Tuesday or Thursday.
What happens if my share is missing from the pick-up site?
First and foremost, confirm that you are at the correct pick-up site on the correct day. If you are sure that you are and your box is not available, please contact us as soon as possible and we will make every effort to get your share to you.
How do I sign up?
You can sign up here through our website, print and mail your membership agreement and check, or pick up a membership agreement at our market during our business hours.
Can I share my membership with another person/family?
Yes, but we will not be responsible for splitting payment and/or produce.
Can I choose what will be in my share box?
No. We will have a wide selection of fruits and vegetables each week according to what is in season. Every box will be packed identically.
Will my produce be of good quality?
Absolutely. We will do our best to ensure that all your produce falls nothing short of excellent. Produce will be harvested, washed, packed, and delivered to the pick-up location within 24 hours. Certain environmental conditions beyond our control may arise during the season, and if we feel a crop is not up to standard, be assured that you will not receive it. In the event of a crop failure, we are more than prepared to substitute another crop- the benefit of having as diverse a farm as we do.
